Like these two bloggers, I am very thankful for all the wonderful blessings in my life. But, on the flip side, there are some things I am thankful that never happened:
- I am thankful I didn't get my first children's book, Candy Corns and Lollipop, published.
- I am thankful I didn't get a public flogging on national television by Oprah for a book I wrote like James Frey.
- I am thankful I didn't listen to some of the suggestions and critiques of my writing.
- I am thankful I didn't let my shyness get in the way of meeting new people at writers conference and events.
- I am thankful I didn't let a few "no thank yous" by publishers and editors stop me in my quest to get published.

I'm thankful for just grumping around.
I'm thankful I didn't have company for dinner today. It was great to hang around in old clothes and enjoy reading and watching DVDs instead of "entertaining" (grown-up) kids.
I'm thankful for my decision to write now and worrying about publishing later.
I'm thankful for not thinking I had to get an MFA to pursue my passion.
I'm thankful that I haven't yet narrowed myself to a specific genre.
I'm thankful that Kerrie and all the other NCW folks didn't take up quilting or weight lifting or some pursuit other than writing and helping writers!
I'm thankful that my practice manuscripts never found immortality on the internet.
I'm thankful for writers who make me want to write better.
I'm thankful that 30Rock and The Daily Show keep me laughing.
